Grid for rotation tool should not rotate
Last modified: 2013-06-20 15:26:50 UTC
The grid should not rotate with the photo when you are rotating an image. The point of the grid in this case is so you can align the horizon, or a tree, or a wall, etc with the grid which is showing you the perfectly level and plumb lines.
If there are other use cases for the grid, then there should be at least an option to have an either fixed or moving grid during the rotation.
If you want a fixed grid, use View->Show Grid.
That's what you use the corrective transform mode for.
@Mikael I am not a fan of the view grid in this way. This grid is a fixed pixel size and would need to be changed for every different sized image. If you see the way this is implemented in iphoto, picassa, photoshop, etc., there is usually a fixed grid that is sized as a percentage of the current view, not based on the image. If you want to zoom in and out, the grid stays the same. I think this should be a part of the rotate tool. Seems like it would be a matter of having a checkbox to lock the guide position.
