Description Erick Perez Castellanos 2013-06-18 19:13:42 UTC
I think for the regular user it's more important to have the recent tags of the project more easily within reach than the olders one. So, for that purpose the order of the Tags section of the sidebar should be inverted.

Doesn't it make more sense to have them in alphabetical (natural sort) order? Otherwise looking for a specific tag (especially if there are many) can be very cumbersome.
Comment 2 Ignacio Casal Quinteiro (nacho) 2013-06-19 15:41:49 UTC
should we actually put it like cgit? by creation timestamp
Comment 3 jessevdk@gmail.com 2013-06-19 15:45:49 UTC
For me, sorting by creation seems nice when you're working with a repo on a daily basis. But if you're checking out other repos and you try to find a particular tag, it's certainly easier if sorted in alphabetical order.
Comment 4 jessevdk@gmail.com 2013-06-19 15:47:19 UTC
FYI, github also sorts newest tags first it seems.
Comment 5 Paolo Borelli 2013-06-19 19:21:37 UTC
I think (if we keep the sidebar) that we should sort branches by recent activity.

I also think we should only list the first N branches and show a "more..." button

I am not sure we should list tags at all, I rarely use tags on a daily basis

Marking bug as NEW and enhancement.
Comment 7 jessevdk@gmail.com 2015-08-09 07:32:38 UTC
I've added a preference for the sort order of the references. It now also defaults to sorting by latest activity.

I'm not sure about the more button. I've implemented collapsing/expanding of the headers which could help here, although it's not quite the same. We could however now do the same with tags as we did before which is to collapse them by default.
Comment 8 jessevdk@gmail.com 2015-08-09 07:52:03 UTC
I've also made the tags collapsed by default. @pbor: if you still feel the need for a "more ..." type thing, please open a separate issue for this.
