Screenshot of a directory created without the directory name text being selected

I was creating a new folder on my desktop and found that if the text is not selected while renaming the folder, it's not clearly visible against the background for purposes of reading/typing- the name of the directory.

Comment 1 Sindhu S 2013-06-14 11:57:55 UTC
Maybe it the directory name-text could use a light background when someone is renaming it?
Comment 2 António Fernandes 2013-06-14 16:17:59 UTC
I agree with comment 1. Transparent background on the rename entry field is, in my opinion, wrong, becuase:

     - it doesn't look like a regular text entry;
     - transparent background is for non-selected items. Selected items have opaque background (well, except when renaming, that's why it feels wrong).

Reported on Ubuntu has well:

It seems to confuse/annoy users
Comment 6 António Fernandes 2013-11-17 13:37:29 UTC
According to a commit description [1], this problem has been fixed in git, including the 3.10 branch (although yet to be included in a release).
