Description Daniel Aleksandersen 2013-06-13 20:10:15 UTC
I want a new context-menu item for selected texts in Terminal. The option should be called “Search the Web” and be located above the Copy item. The selection should be preceded and succeeded by quotation marks ("%s") to optimistically try and get an exact match from the search engine. The user’s default browser should be used.

This is indeed a duplicate of 492515. That issue is many years old and closed as a duplicate of a larger plan that never came to anything. I wish to raise this issue again, because I believe it would streamline a common use-case (for troubleshooting).

Ideally the search engine should be whatever the user has chosen. As there is no easy way to retrieve this from the user’s browser, an advanced option for setting the search URL could be included.
