Description Aleksander Morgado 2013-06-10 08:27:47 UTC
The Pantech UMW190 supports different capability combinations, and we can switch them using QCDM. Given that this is, AFAIK, the only modem with different capability combinations which is not QMI, we can probably implement this subclassing the load_supported_capabilities() and set_current_capabilities() methods in the Pantech plugin.

There's two other "global" modems that I know about, the AnyData AD3700 and the Novatel USB1000, both from Verizon. I have a USB1000 on order so when it arrives we'll see whether it supports QMI or not. The AnyData product brief says it's "based on Qualcomm Gobi technology (MDM1000)" but who knows whether they exposed the QMI interface or not on that one. It's about $17 on ebay right now. Regardless, if any of these devices support QCDM, we can switch them with QCDM.
Comment 2 Dan Williams 2013-06-20 18:17:33 UTC
Novatel/Verizon USB1000 is actually a Gobi1K device in a USB dongle form. No idea about the ADU, but the UMW190 is the only device I know of now that can do gsm/umts and cdma/evdo but doesn't support QMI.

Moving bugreport to the new ModemManager bugzilla in fd.o; summarized the issue
there as well. Please subscribe to the new bugreport to get new updates.
