Classic: "Urgent" notifications can steal focus when typing

I noticed yesterday while typing a blog post that when I received a notification from XChat-GNOME (someone had mentioned my IRC nick), that focus was switched from the browser window I had been typing in to the XChat-GNOME window on a different workspace (shifting my workspace in the process) when I hit the space-bar. The message tray should probably be made aware of active keyboard use and ignore the space-bar quick-switch effect if other keys have been pressed recently. It's an edge-case, but it was startling and unwelcome.
Uhm... indeed we have code to avoid focusing notifications that are autoexpanding. More investigation needed.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).
