Description shankar 2013-05-29 11:39:59 UTC
Hi,
The problem:

Being a coordinator for Kannada Team, I commit my translations directly to git at regular intervals. For example, I have pushed the changes kn files of gnome-power-manager today, but the https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/gnome-power-manager/master/po/kn page shows as "State: Inactive".

Due to this, any new guy who is interested to translate gnome modules to Kannada, assume that the team is not active and may request for coordinator rights. Actually a similar issue came up for Marathi team around couple of months back. A request to start new team was filed [1].

I request to have sync between the git push and the state of the module for particular language so that the team's state is shown active.

Doesn't "inactive" only refer to "nothing attached here to review and hence currently no active translation work going on" anyway? Maybe the word is just unfortunate in this context. Plus you are on the page for a module so the module is inactive. It does not mean at all that the team is inactive.

Yes, I agree with you. But a novice translator who don't know whole commit process (Vertimus, git) may not understand this.

By the way, may I know the purpose of having state mentioned in the module's page? Is there any particular time of inactivity (in Vertimus) after which the state turns to Inactive?

Maybe ask on gnome-i18n@ mailing list? Looks offtopic for this bug report.

What if active translations happening through other means, say through mailing lists or a team where there is only one translator exists who pushes the changes directly to git?
