GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 701083
[regression] Existing composer preferences for reply/forward style are not read or displayed correctly
Last modified: 2013-09-21 13:34:56 UTC
Since upgrading to the first 3.9.1 evolution build on Fedora. Reply style has been broken. - hitting reply seems to take the preference as "Attachment", while in the configuration from 3.8.x it is "Quote" - The composer preferences reply/forward style combo-boxes are filled with blank items. This is Fedora rawhide and I also test with glib/gtk snapshots from master today.
As we spoke about this on IRC, only evolution's downgrade to 3.8.x fixes the issue, thus it might not be a gtk+' fault. I cannot test this currently, but it'll be good if Matthew could look on this (it seems like a removal of EShellSettings caused this).
Not seeing any problem with 3.9.3, nor in recent memory. Both the combo box appearance and the reply behavior in response to combo box selection are correct here.
So I tried the other way around , e-d-s/evo 3.9.x and gtk3 3.8.1 The preference was still taken as "Forawrd", but the combo was filled correctly and setting it to "quoted" worked. I am guessing something with comboboxes and gtk 3.9 as tristan suggested on ird this one could be related. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=700629
What i meant with "Forawrd" was "Attachment". I've now read the reply-style depreciation comment in the settings schema so perhaps my initial 3.9.x confusion and resetting of the value was caused by the gtk issue and not something in evolution.
Tracked the flawed rendering of the comboboxes to a gtk commit. Details in bug 700629. Closing. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 700629 ***
