before the gnome-panel knew xinerama, I had a panel across the top of all
desktops.  This allowed me to have a very log tasklist applet.  Since the
addition of xinerama into the panel I can no longer have an applet across
screens.  So I am limited to a small tasklist.
  I wish that there was a edge panel that spans across the xinerama screens.
