Description Christian Stimming 2013-05-21 19:13:44 UTC
See http://gnucash.uservoice.com/suggestions/1562955

Budgeting system similar to YNAB, "You Need A Budget". It needs to carry forward over/under spent on budget category from month to month. I cannot use GNUCASH's budget system.

Ideally, this would be an option in the budget report. While I completely agree with the change request, for users who do not want to carry forward the monthly differences, it should be possible to retain the current behavior.

It should also be possible, to set a "reset" point of time, e.g. yearend, at which differences are not carried over to the next month.

These two points could be easily linked in the option menu:

Option: Reset Date: Monthly, Annually, ...

If you choose monthly, this would produce the current behavior.

I would like to see the ability to mark each line of the budget as a sinking fund or not.

Things like House or Auto Insurance would accumulate for 12 months, things like New Roof would accumulate for 240 months. Things that operate like current set up would be left at 1 month.

Since these funds accumulate in some account like the Checking, there would need to be a way to show the unallocated (current balance less the sinking funds accumulations.)
