GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 699455
restore type-ahead find
Last modified: 2013-05-02 12:28:20 UTC
GNOME removed type-ahead find in Nautilus 3.6, not without controversy: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2012-August/msg00002.html Now when you type in a Nautilus window, Nautilus immediately performs a search in the current directory and all its subdirectories. I personally find this annoying. If I want to search, I'm happy to press Ctrl+F or click the search icon. I've used Nautilus without type-ahead find for several months now, and still miss it every day. I'd like to see type-ahead find restored, as a preference at the very least.
Hi, Adam. We already have bug 680118, bug 681871, bug 687002 and bug 699087 as fallout from the removal of type-ahead find. I'm not sure this report adds anything which is not already covered by one of the above.
If you think this is a duplicate of one of the above, please indicate which. If not, please be more specific on what you want to see addressed in this bug report.
I guess we can consider this a duplicate of bug 699087, the open bug which most closely reflects my concerns here. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 699087 ***
