GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 698902
SSL problems with Ubuntu 13.04
Last modified: 2013-06-15 06:18:48 UTC
Pan 0.139 and new clean install of Ubuntu 13.04. Pan does nothing when a ssl server is entered, when changed to non ssl server it start to work immediately.
Need a specific testcase. Why do you think that the server supports SSL? :)
I pay for astraweb. I have always used their ssl server. I backed up my pan folder before I did a clean install of 13.04, reinstalled pan, then dragged over my .pan folder. It wouldn't connect. It is trying to connect to ssl-us.astraweb.com port 443. I guess it supports ssl because of the name and the fact that the ssl server is working on another client on the same machine. If I change the server name to us.news.astraweb.com port 119 it instantly connects.
I've got the same problem in Ubuntu 13.04. Connects to supernews with port 119 but not 563. Pan in Ubuntu Quantal (12.10) worked fine. Have been using Supernews port 563 for months. Can I assist with debugging?
i'm updating my ubuntu system and will check that. thanks for the report.
distro problem, ssl seems to be NOT bundled with pan
