Why are "top contacts" who are offline showing in Empathy's contact list even though they are ... offline?

The "show offline contacts" setting is unchecked, so it seems this is a bug.

P.S. The favourite heart in the "top contacts" group label is really jarring; it knocks that expander out of alignment from the other entries.

Just to clarify, is this bug about the checkbox not working or the fact that offline contacts are shown in the contact list the first time you launch the app?

I have two names showing in Top Contacts. They're both marked as offline and indeed they are. So why are they in the list? All my other offline contacts are hidden.

This is by design actually; see bug #648838 for the rationale.
