GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 697975
Translation for libgweather not setting correct default units
Last modified: 2013-07-14 23:11:28 UTC
Certain strings in libgweather are supposed to define the correct standard units. For example: #. TRANSLATORS: pick a default distance unit for your locale, see key description #. for valid values #: ../schemas/org.gnome.GWeather.gschema.xml.h:10 msgid "'miles'" msgstr "\"milhas\"" This should have been translated as: msgstr "'km'" With this bug the units are not correct for Brazilian users - for example, the new Weather app in GNOME 3.8 will display temperatures in Fahrenheit rather than Celsius.
Thank you for alerting us about this error, Evandro! I am personally viewing the file and this string that is incorrect and as soon as possible it will be commited into the GNOME git repository. Observation: This issue affects the GNOME 3.8, but the GNOME 3.10 not because it uses another approach to specify distance units. Best regards, Enrico.
Evandro, I am glad to announce that I commited the change, setting the correct distance unit: km! Henrique P Machado, May you set this issue as CLOSED AND FIXED? #. TRANSLATORS: pick a default distance unit for your locale, see key description #. for valid values #: ../schemas/org.gnome.GWeather.gschema.xml.h:10 msgid "'miles'" msgstr "'km'" At this page: https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/libgweather/gnome-3-8/po/pt_BR you can see the modified file. commit fa91c331744cd43ed83d1be6d2bfed401b43086b Author: Enrico Nicoletto <liverig@gmail.com> Date: Sun Jul 14 16:09:02 2013 -0300 Adjusted the correct distance unit in Brazilian Portuguese translation Thanks, Enrico.
