Description Eduard Braun 2013-04-06 15:33:41 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
- Choose color picker tool
- Select "use info window" or hold shift
- Select a color from a drawing

Suppose you want to copy the determined color value to clipboard (e.g. to use it in another application). The cursor is changed to a text selection cursor over the color values, however the selection is not visible (even when choosing "select all" from the context menu)

To workaround the issue one can defocus the color picker information window (e.g. focusing the GIMP window itself) and reselect the information window. Afterwards text selection works as expected.

That is probably this windows-specific dialog focus bug.
Comment 2 Michael Natterer 2013-04-10 00:16:19 UTC
Eduard, could this be a duplicate of bug 677765? (see comment 4). Same weird
behavior of having to re-focus the dialog.
Comment 3 Eduard Braun 2013-04-10 00:31:11 UTC
Well, the behavior is quite similar in that text selection is invisible and refocusing fixes it. So it *could* actually be the same problem.

However I can't estimate if it's really the same bug since I know nothing about the internals of GIMP.
Comment 4 Michael Natterer 2013-04-10 01:52:17 UTC
Thanks, I'm pretty sure this is the same underlying focus problem,
resolving as duplicate.
