On OSX (latest version at date) many dialogs such as e.g. the "Export Image as PNG" pop up not as topmost window and are hidden therefore in the background. I'm using the single mode UI. The save as dialog is then disable and you don't know why.

Wasn't this fixed with bug 677776 ? Is this really 2.8.4?

No I'm using 2.8.3 but I can not set this version in the version dropdown list.

That is because you are running 2.8.2 which accidentially had the version 2.8.3
in the released DMG.
