GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 697065
only hide logout item when autologin is enabled
Last modified: 2021-07-05 14:10:17 UTC
We should considering only hiding the logout item when the user has autologin enabled (in addition to there being only one user account and one session) It makes sense because if a user needs to use the login screen to get to the session they may be confused if they can't find a way back to it. We should also consider doing autologin by default on single user systems (maybe with auto locking?) (irc conversation that lead me to file this bug: <desrt> mclasen: always-show-logout doesn't get updated if the user changes it <desrt> ie: have to restart the shell <desrt> but thanks for the tip. i actually created a second user on my system just so that i'd have a logout item :) <cosimoc> desrt, should probably file a bug for that <halfline> i wonder if it would make sense to only hide logout if autologin is enabled <cosimoc> autologin + single user maybe <halfline> cosimoc: right, same constraints it has today but also autologout <halfline> *login <cosimoc> I think that'd make sense )
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
