Description Federico Mena Quintero 2002-01-25 21:16:24 UTC
I just installed RHL 7.2 and nicely discovered that Nautilus uses FAM.

I mounted /mnt/compactflash, which is the mount point for my digital
camera's memory card. I opened it in Nautilus, copied some files to my
hard drive, deleted them from the compacflash card.

I closed all Nautilus windows pertaining to /mnt/compactflash. However,
when I right-clicked on the compactflash icon on the desktop to unmount it,
I got an error message saying that it could not be unmounted because it was
busy.

fuser(1) said that it was FAM who was accessing that directory. I had to
kill fam in order to unmount it.

I don't know if Nautilus is not telling FAM to stop monitoring a directory
when a window is closed or if this is a FAM bug.

Adding GNOME2 keyword to bugs with 1.1.x milestone.
Comment 2 John Fleck 2002-01-26 04:01:05 UTC
Removing GNOME2 keyword from a bunch I accidentally marked incorrectly.
Comment 3 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-05-13 16:42:11 UTC
I remember having similar problems with fam way back when? Is this
still relevant now, or is it fixed?
Comment 4 Federico Mena Quintero 2002-05-21 00:25:35 UTC
It may be fixed, as since some time after the initial report I never
had problems again.

Marking as fixed; someone should reopen it if it persists.
Comment 5 Damon Chaplin 2002-06-12 18:06:35 UTC
I don't have FAM, so if someone else wants this bug please take it!
