Description Moltres_rider 2013-03-31 20:56:47 UTC
I know it says "This may take awhile", but seriously? 10 minutes for 1 new font??? I think Gimp needs a better and faster way of loading fonts!!! NO OTHER program needs 10 minutes just to load one brand new font!!! I think Gimp needs to borrow code that all the OTHER programs use because Gimp is the ONLY program that takes 10 minutes for fonts!!!

Yep, that's the rebuild of the fontconfig font cache. See http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/fontconfig for a description of this library and links to the user and developer docs.

If you have an idea how this can be improved (check out the developer docs for this), please do not hesitate to tell us.
