GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 696717
Banshee resets volume level at startup
Last modified: 2013-03-27 22:37:23 UTC
When Banshee starts it always sets the volume level to the absolute maximum. This using my audio equipment means instant hearing damage. There is also a risk that some of my elderly neighbors will get a stroke. I am serious. I am unsure what component causes this, and any help would be appreciated in tracking the culprit down and fixing it...
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 686908 ***
I have experienced the same condition. Upon initial booting of my system, Fedora 18 (with latest kernel) and Gnome 3.6.3 and Banshee 2.6.0 that both the Gnome system volume settings and Banshee Volume setting are both set to 100%. I have to readjust both settings and they are not remembers once I reboot my system. I don't know which application is at fault, but this is a reoccurring aggravation. Hope someone can come up with a solution.
Dale, I just marked this bug as a duplicate of bug 686908 which, as of now, has 2 proposed patches. Could you be so kind to test those patches and report some feedback? We would be willing to help you build Banshee if you don't know how. Thanks!
