GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 696178
Evince prints an extra blank page after each print job
Last modified: 2013-03-21 10:22:12 UTC
This bug is existing since I started using GNU/linux and gnome six years ago, on a range of Ubuntu versions (6.10 throughout 12.10), a range of desktops and laptops, and a range of printers (although all HP printers). The problem is specific to Evince. The issue is that Evince prints an extra blank page after a print job. This becomes particularly ennoying when printing several small PDF documents. Obviously, it means a spill of paper as well. The issue is long standing and confined to evince only. To reproduce, open a PDF in Ubuntu, Ctrl+p, select "Current page", and instead of the current page, the current page + a blanc page comes out. Print the entire document, and an extra page comes out. I have never known it differently, and I'd be surprised if no one else could reproduce that easily. This is not related to mismatched papersizes between the print settings and the PDF page size: I tested that. (in fact, there would be no reason for a blank page even if paper sizes would not match). In fact, even my /etc/papersize is set to A4. Please provide clear instructions if you need extra information, as I am a simple end user.
May you check if you have any settings in the print dialog ('Job')? In particular, 'Add cover page'.
Additionally, may you check if 'Page Sacaling' is 'Shrink to Printable Area'. If not, may you try with that option?
Issue appears to be solved: it concerns a HP Laserjet P2055. In "Advanced settings", "Duplexer installed" was checked whereas there isn't one available. this may have been set by default while installing the printer, but that is another issue. Thank you for the assistence, and sorry for taking your time: This issue can be closed.
