Description James 2013-03-19 01:54:56 UTC
Fedora 18 Package evolution.x86_64 - 3.6.4-2.fc18

When I change a password on the pop server, or create a new mail account, and then try to access the account with evolution, evolution just hangs and never asks for a password.

Evolution seems to work fine if it already knows the password for the account.

The dialog which asks about receiving mail no longer asks if any passwords should be remembered. I thought that was now defaulting to 'yes'.

Killing Evolution requires a kill -9. It will hang forever if I try to use normal kill, or use the window 'X' button or use the file->quit menu option.

I see the same behaviour on a newly installed Mageia 3 x86_64, evolution-3.6.3-1.mga3.
When I checked mail for the first time after creating new mail accounts, I expected to be prompted for passwords but there was just a glimpse of what might have been a dialog box, which disappeared before I could be sure and Evolution went on checking mail for a very long time, just like James reported.
And it was quite hard to kill, too. Neither normal close, ordinary kill or killall would do.

Thanks for a bug report. I tried to reproduce this with a more recent version of evolution (current git master, to be 3.17.1, but is quite the same as 3.12.x or 3.16.x in this regard), by saving my POP password into the keyring, then change the saved value (simulating password change on the server), then hitting Send/Receive and the POP account asked for the new password, thus I consider this obsolete.

I think there was a similar bug report which was fixed also in time of 3.8, but I'm not 100% sure.
