i can has no wallpaper

while running gnome-shell master through `jhbuild run gnome-shell --replace` I'm not getting the wallpaper applied on my primary display, only on the secondary. I get system grey (sans the texture though) on the primary.

The curtain has the wallpaper on both screens.
