Description Jorge Hernandez 2013-03-15 00:34:44 UTC
Hey guys,

I have tested the latest version of your GNOME's gdm with Fedora 18 and OpenSUSE 12.3 and neither of them show me the login screen, just the background, so I have to use kdm from KDE and choose GNOME in the session option, but I'd like to have it all in one.

This is what the log say (these are from a virtual machine, but the same is happening on my laptop):

I'm seeing this too after upgrading from openSUSE 12.2 to 12.3 - the gdm service is reported as "failed" with "No such file or directory" error message, on console 7 I can see just the wallpaper, but not the greeter.

And this disappears if you uncheck "Accelerate 3D graphics" in the VM settings.

For your reference, this was reported in Fedora [1] and openSUSE [2] Bugzillas, so it's quite reproducible.

I am testing openSUSE 13.1 Milestone 2 .
This problem does not occur in openSUSE 13.1 Milestone 2 .

openSUSE12.3: gdm-3.6.2-4.2.1.x86_64
openSUSE13.1M2: gdm-3.8.1.1-1.2.x86_64
Comment 3 Jorge Hernandez 2013-06-29 18:36:55 UTC
Thanks for the info but I'm having my own problems testing Opensuse 13.1 Milestone 2, I'm a web developer and Apache is not yet working in Milestone 2, also, I decided to dump GNOME anyway due to the similarities with Windows 8, I'm sticking to KDE.

Thanks anyway.
