When I run startx command the gnome system show the following messages:

Application "panel" (process 1249) has crashed due to a fatal error (segmentation fault)

and don't show the panel, but if go out the gnome   with CTRL+BACKSPACE keys and I run startx again there aren't any problem.

Please upgrade to gnome-core 1.4.0.5 and tell us if you still get the
problem.
