Description William Jon McCann 2013-03-05 19:28:53 UTC
It would be nice to support the kind of photo backgrounds that we have in the mockups.

https://raw.github.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/weather/weather-week.png

I guess at minimum we'd need a photo for each type of symbolic icon. Later we could get fancy and try to factor in the temperature when deciding what photo to pick as well.

Uhm... what I was planning to do actually was to have libgweather harvest flickr for free images of the selected city, possibly under the reported conditions.

(Part of this was to help gnome-clocks too)

Not really a fan of that approach. I have started selecting some images that fit in well with the rest of the look we want to achieve. Hopefully Jakub and Garrett may be able to help us here as well.
Comment 3 Giovanni Campagna 2013-03-05 22:48:13 UTC
Well, that means less work for me, so I'm ok with it.
Comment 4 William Jon McCann 2013-03-07 00:52:02 UTC
Created wip/backgrounds with a patch for this since it blew bugzilla's poor little mind.
Comment 5 Cosimo Cecchi 2013-03-07 19:10:21 UTC
FYI I pushed a couple of tiny fixes on top of that branch to be squashed with the original commit if this gets approved.
Comment 6 Giovanni Campagna 2013-03-08 22:02:28 UTC
As I mentioned to Cosimo by e-mail, I would be happier with some better attribution, for example in the About Dialog.
But other than that, this is fine to commit for a preview.
Comment 7 William Jon McCann 2013-03-08 22:31:53 UTC
Completely agree with the about dialog credits. I think that part was in-flight when I was originally doing this. I can take a look at this tomorrow.
