GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 694994
Add a quick way to close a maximized window
Last modified: 2013-03-04 08:49:24 UTC
If you want to close a maximized window that uses 'globalMenue' (I dont know how this feature is named. I mean when the menu is moved to the panel, like files/nautilus does since 3.6), you have to do this: -Move pointer to application icon->click->move pointer to 'quit'->click. -If you want to close several windows (eg. multiple pdfs), you have to move from the icon to 'quit' an back (and so one). On none globalMenu applications the close button always stays at the same place (So you have to move only once). Suggestions: - Close an application if you double-click on the icon. (This is also the behaviour on windows when you double click on the application icon (left corner on the windows title)). (Note: I am not a fan of 'middle-click', because my touchpad doesnt have one) - Add a close sign/icon (eg. an 'X') the the application icon, or after the application name. btw: If am reporting to the wrong component/product please correct me
As an aside, for closing multiple windows in quick succession, going to the overview is the most efficient way.
We have some plans to do this, which would basically involve adding a close button to toolbars when there isn't a titlebar. Thanks for the bug report.
