GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 694279
Application grid - some icons are too big
Last modified: 2013-08-27 22:49:14 UTC
Created attachment 236942 [details] screenshot Some of the icons in the application grid are too big. This disrupts the regularity of the grid and makes the padding with the app launcher labels too narrow. In the attached screenshot, examples of icons that are too large include: Firefox, XChat and VLC. Notice that the icons are scaled correctly in the dash.
This is an application bug -- nothing we can do about it.
Created attachment 237795 [details] app grid experiment I've done some more research here. It seems to me that the issue stems from the use of padding in the GNOME hi-res application icons. This clashes with many 3rd party app icons, which often don't have padding. Compare the icons for Clocks and VLC in the attachment, for example.
I have to agree with Jasper here. Some of the app icons aren't using the space efficiently. I'll see about enlarging gedit and clocks.
OK, let's say this is an app issue.
