Last modified: 2013-04-01 18:36:23 UTC
gimp-2.8.2-5.1.x86_64 in opensuse 12.2, repository multimedia - photo. Stopped loading .jpeg. Test: Load any .jpg photo into Gimp Export photo to .jpg Export the same photo to .jpeg Read in the .jpg, no problem Read in the .jpeg - error Cannot decode file *.jpeg Stopgap Rename .jpeg to .jpg - photo can be read in. Test in Gimp 2.8, no problem
Please try 2.8.4 and report back.
Tested with gimp 2.8.4-1.1 64Bit Repository http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/cornelisbb/openSUSE_12.2/ Same problem
Is this tracked in the opensuse tracker, too?
No. I didn't like the amount of personal data Novell wanted for creating a bug account.
Works fine for me on Ubuntu 12.10. Do you have any third-party plug-in installed that might have registered itself as a .jpeg file name extension handler and fails at loading the image?
Might be the reason. I used "high-pass.scm" in opensuse 12.2 Unfortunately, I can't test it anymore. I've moved to opensuse 12.3. After having received your comment I tested with an .jpeg and could not reproduce the problem, even though I used the old configuration file. Present gimp-version: GIMP 2.8.4, from opensuse 12.3 64bit, repo: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/photo/openSUSE_12.3/
"high-pass.scm" shouldn't interfere with that, unless something very strange would happen in that script. Resolving as obsolete.
