GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 693869
High memory consumption (which leads to OS freeze) on previewing/opening of this pdf file
Last modified: 2013-02-15 18:40:24 UTC
Created attachment 236224 [details] pdf which makes my Evince to use all my memory Every time I try to open or even just preview on Nautilus the pdf file attached, Evince starts demanding all the memory. This leads to a complete freeze of the OS. Confirmed on: GNOME Document Viewer 3.6.1 GNOME Document Viewer 3.4.0 No problem in: GNOME Document Viewer 3.2.1 and older
Can you give us details which version of poppler are you using? which system? I can not reproduce the bug, although I get the following output in my terminal: BAD status: out of memory BAD status: out of memory BAD status: out of memory That is with evince 3.4.0/poppler 0.18.4, and with evince/poppler from master.
poppler-0.20.2-9.fc18.x86_64 Linux localhost.localdomain 3.7.6-201.fc18.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Feb 4 15:54:08 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Fedora 18
Could you please report the bug in poppler's bugzilla? http://bugs.freedesktop.org In my machine, it does not eat all the memory (thanks to my swap) but it uses around 4GB just to render one page! and then releases most of the memory... Valgrind didn't say much, but I don't know much about it. And I can reproduce the bug in poppler-glib-demo with poppler git master
Now on https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60901. This bug can be thus closed. Thank you,
