Description Adam Thompson 2013-02-14 15:59:11 UTC
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1034747

With a dual-monitor setup where monitor "A" is larger (higher-res) than "B", and "A" is positioned *above* B, centered;
And when the display of files on the Desktop (corresponding to ~/Desktop) is enabled;
And the files are organized in a top-to-bottom, left-to-right direction (this is the default);
Then the leftmost column (or two, or three) of files extends right off the bottom of monitor "A" into mid-air to the left of where monitor "B" starts and they are completely inaccessible via the desktop. A file browser window must be opened and navigated to Desktop in order to access the files.

(Apologies for the lack of version information right now. This occurred under Ubuntu 12.04.01. I've since stopped using the desktop this way so I don't know if it recurs under Ubuntu 12.10. And since I'm not booted into Ubuntu right now, I have no idea what nautilus version was involved.)

Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
