Description Alex Ogier 2013-02-08 21:15:18 UTC
Due to the way that Nautilus handles NoDisplay=true in .desktop files, Evince doesn't show up in the recommended applications list when choosing how to handle PDF files. If you mess up the default in any way, for example by installing Gimp, then you cannot switch back to the old viewer.

Fixing bug #634245 would solve this, but would have the side effect of showing Evince in the activities panel and application launcher, which has been decided against by core Gnome developers.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Right click a PDF file in Nautilus, and choose "Properties."
2) On the "Open With" tab, choose any application and press the "Set as default" button.
3) Now PDF files default to this other application, and the default cannot be reverted back to Evince.
