GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 693375
Terminal resetting transparency level when started using a keybind
Last modified: 2013-02-07 23:24:00 UTC
Overview: I have gnome-terminal's profile configured with a little bit of transparency. It has worked as intended until now. As of the last reboot, when I issue gnome-terminal using a keyboard shortcut (<Alt>+<space>), the transparency is set to 100% (fully transparent). If I start it either by the shell application icon, "run command" (<Alt>+<F2>) or a terminal, it starts correctly. Note that if I start it from the shortcut and then from any of the previously mentioned ways it starts fully transparent, suggesting it stores the new forced preference. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Configure the profile to use a background transparency between 1% and 99% 2) Start gnome-terminal using a keyboard shortcut Actual Results: The terminal is fully transparent Expected Results: Should start with the configured transparency Build Date & Platform: Fedora 17 $ yum info gnome-terminal Name : gnome-terminal Arch : x86_64 Version : 3.4.1.1 Release : 1.fc17 Size : 10 M Repo : installed From repo : koji-override-0 Summary : Terminal emulator for GNOME URL : http://www.gnome.org/ Licence : GPLv3+ and GFDL Description : gnome-terminal is a terminal emulator for GNOME. It supports : translucent backgrounds, opening multiple terminals in a single : window (tabs) and clickable URLs. Additional Builds and Platforms: I remember a while ago, I was using Arch Linux back then, the same problem occurred. This was when gnome-shell was in version 3.0 or 3.2. Looking at the lack of regularity and information found on Google, it's hard to actually reproduce. I found these similar cases, though: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753389 http://superuser.com/questions/479485/gnome-terminal-transparency-at-100-when-opened-with-a-keyboard-shorcut I don't really know how to help debug this problem so let me know if I can get any logs or something to help.
