Description paper 2013-01-29 18:21:20 UTC
With Rygel 0.17.7, the Sony BDP-S470 plays 16:9 videos in what seems to be anamorphic format (2.40:1). The 16:9 video should fit the 16:9 TV perfectly (the player interface does, so it's not a TV setting) but when playing from Rygel the video is crunched vertically with excessive black on the top and bottom.

Interestingly, 4:3 videos are displayed in 1:1 format with excessive black on the right and left of the videos.

Disabling transcoding doesn't work: The player just displays "There is no playable file." on the video folder.

Any ideas on what could be wrong or what more information you need?

Which GStreamer are you using? 1.0 or 1.1?
Comment 2 Jens Georg 2013-01-29 20:06:13 UTC
This is probably bug 690132
Comment 3 paper 2013-01-30 04:54:27 UTC
I have both GStreamer 0.10 and 1.0 packages installed on Debian Testing, how can I find out which version Rygel uses?
Comment 4 Jens Georg 2013-01-30 09:38:38 UTC
Ok, so 1.0. Thanks.
Comment 5 Jens Georg 2013-06-28 13:16:43 UTC
This should be fixed with GStreamer 1.1

Unfortunately, I moved and no longer have access to this player to test it.
