gdb backtrace info from hung evolution

When reading my Google Apps email evolution will hang frequently with many running processes. Usually there is one "Saving user interface state" along with other stuck processes.

I built a 3.6.3 version for my Fedora desktop thinking maybe it was a bug in the included 3.6.2 but it still happens. See the attached gdb backtrace. I can reproduce this quite easily although I do not have the exact rep steps yet (just using it, it will usually happen within 30 minutes).

I really like evolution but it's unusable with this bug.

Try Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Preferences -> Headers (tab)

Make sure this option is unchecked:

[ ] Show the photograph of sender in the message preview

I'll try that thanks. Is that documented somewhere?
Comment 3 Matthew Barnes 2013-01-28 23:36:20 UTC
I don't know. I just know the sender photo feature has been and continues to be a problem, and from your backtrace it looks related to the hangs you're seeing.

This does indeed seem to fix it. Mareking as Resolved. I've been struggling with that for a while,in a FAQ somewhere.
Comment 5 Matthew Barnes 2013-01-29 13:32:01 UTC
Yeah, it's frustrating we still can't get that feature working well. And its current implementation is horrendous. I'll try to give it some love when I can.
