GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 692716
all calendar items of an icalendar file disappeared
Last modified: 2015-03-11 11:48:57 UTC
A few days ago I downloaded the file http://jreznik.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-18/f-18-all-milestones.ics to test the calendar functionality of Evolution. I told Evolution to use this file as a source for a calendar I added and it was displayed correctly, with many items showing in December 2012 for example. Today I open my calendar and observe that all the items of the calendar have magically disappeared. The .ics file is still in exactly the same place in my home directory. And of course the calendar is still enabled in the side bar. This is not an isolated issue because I've seen the exactly the same thing on my notebook – see bug #692636 – which used the same .ics file. Both my notebook and my PC run Fedora 18 with the latest updates. On my notebook I also tried to remove the calendar and then added it again, but I observed the calendar items were still missing.
I forgot to mention a detail. I have three calendars: the default "Personal", the one for the Fedora 18 milestones and the default "Birthdays & Anniversaries". I never added anything to the "Personal" calendar, so that was empty as expected. Only the birthdays of the "Birthdays & Anniversaries" calendar still show.
Similar downstream bug report, in there no items shown in calendar at all: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=908477
I'm pretty sure I saw this myself couple times too, but I cannot reproduce it right now for some reason. I have the same calendars as you (I changed the f-18 .ics file to show events from December in February), and whatever I do, the events are there. - I run gnome-shell on that machine (not in real life) - Evolution starts in calendar (I tried day/week/month views) - I tried to logout/login several times - I see the evolution factories are gone during the logout, which is correct and expected - but after login the event are still shown. Even when I close and run evolution without relogin.
I made some extensive changes in the Calendar view, in the part taking care of the events gathering, which may influence this bug report too. Please reopen, if you still see this in 3.16.0+.
