I agree that 600 is too long. Do we still plan to adjust this depending on ac and battery level ?

This would require changes in gnome-session (to monitor whether battery is used or not) and gnome-settings-daemon (which makes calculations based on that). We could add the separate setting, and make gnome-session export it through D-Bus, which would solve that particular problem.
Anyway, patch looks fine to me
