Description Matt Lavin 2012-12-20 19:40:15 UTC
While evaluating whether to move from Quicken to GnuCash, I tried to import my Quicken data through the QIF import actions. After importing I noticed that the memos associated with my translations were lost.

For example, the following QIF transation

D7/17' 7
U-10.68
T-10.68
PSEW YOU LIKE IT, INC.
MEmbroidered gift for Beth
LGifts
^

In GnuCash the description of the transaction becomes "SEW YOU LIKE IT, INC." which is fine, but the memo "Embroidered gift for Beth" is lost.

It would be ideal if the memo was saved the memo associated with the transaction split in GnuCash so that no data was lost during the migration

The memo is not lost, you just aren't looking in the right place.

View -> Double Line Mode to see the Transaction Notes field, which is where it gets put.

There are also the Split Memo, which you can see via expanding the transaction via the Split toolbar button or in Split- or Journal- Ledger Modes.

Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
