Reports from Windows XP/Vista/7 users: File>Create>From_webpage in GIMP 2.8.x creates an image with no content.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using a version (2.8._0_) that is too old and not supported anymore. GIMP developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GIMP you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. 
Please try again with the latest GIMP 2.8.2 you find at gimp-win.sourceforge.net.
If the error happens again, please tell us the URL of the webpage you're trying to capture.

I've conducted a short-lived survey on Gimp Chat forum pertaining to the aforementioned issue http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5920&hilit=Create+from+webpage
I'm using GIMP 2.8.2 (Sourceforge.net official download) as well as all Windows users who responded to that post. That was enough reason to file a bug report.  
I've tried half a dozen of webpages.
And BTW, it was working in GIMP 2.8.0. I still keep a few webpage images created a few months ago.

So you reported it against 2.8.0, but it works with this version?

Michael, I reported as 2.8.x, which means any version of 2.8 series, including 2.8.2. Didn't want to be specific. What ethical standards am I breaking here?

If it is working in 2.8.0, but not in 2.8.2, then something has changed in between those versions - be it in GIMP's own code or in a library. If it does not work in either, then we have less clues, but know that it is at least not a regression introduced in 2.8.2.

So does File>Create>From_webpage work in 2.8.0 (you mention this in comment #2), or is it broken there (the version field for this bug is set to 2.8.0)?

GIMP 2.8.0 (official download) - working 
GIMP 2.8.2 (official download) - not working.
