My desktop screenshot with the issue at hand.

I installed an application on my computer and it gave me the option to add an icon to the desktop. I didn't care so I continued and would delete it if I was annoyed. However I got the following when I went to my desktop folder. The icon is super large and there is no "stretch icon" feature in gnome here so I can't make it visually smaller.
In fact zooming the icon sizes has no effect on the size of the icon.
