Description David King 2012-12-01 15:48:34 UTC
Copied from the original bug report:

Possibility of viewing and editing tag frames that are "there" but not commonly edited.

Primarily viewing, so we can see that they are actually there and what they contain.

Editing isn't a bigger priority but would be nice. Can't say I've ever edited any of these, but I do check to make sure they exist a lot, being anal about my MusicBrainz tagging. ;-)

Attached is a screenshot of Kid3's additional frame editing system. It's actually a pain to use, but it shows the frames I'm talking about at least.

Recommended to be setup in EasyTag as a third tab next to Common and Pictures. Perhaps as "Other" or... heh, "Uncommon". ;-)

These other frames can come from anywhere. Mine all come from saving files via the MB Picard-QT tagger. Various MBIDs, artist sort name, album artist name, and so on.

I think this definitely is a feature which every tagger/meta data editor should have.

With EasyTag I often stumble upon edited comment tags which get saved as description tags instead (with ogg/opus/flac I think) so I end up with two different types of comments that are out of sync, which is just messy behavior that should be manually correctable by the user.

Right now I use Foobar2000 (through Wine) to check and correct these tags (seems like Kid3-qt is also able to do this and doesn't has a lot of dependencies for Gnome users on fedora), but using multiple tagging programs (all of which behave a little differently and obscure their inner workings from the user) to get a single task done right means a lot of frustration.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/easytag/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
