Description David King 2012-11-30 09:35:38 UTC
I am in the process of moving EasyTAG to gnome.org from SourceForge, and I would like to migrate the old easytag-mailing@list.sourceforge.net to a gnome.org mailing list. Please create easytag-list@gnome.org for this purpose.

Please set me as the mailing list administrator, and Kip Warner <kip@thevertigo.com> (the current EasyTAG maintainer) too if possible, or I can add him myself later.

I have access to the mbox archives for the old mailing list, and will attach those to this bug once the new list is active and I have sent an email to the old list detailing the move.

List created. Will wait the mbox to import the archives.
Comment 2 David King 2012-11-30 12:25:49 UTC
Thanks for the quick response Andrea. The mailing list archives are too large for a Bugzilla attachment, so I have uploaded a compressed mbox file to my gnome.org webspace:

Done. [1] Let me know if it looks OK to you.

It looks like the archive is missing some of the months in the archive, and the month titles that exist are in French (novembre, dicembre). Looking through the mbox file, I see messages for most months for the last few years at least, so I am not sure what went wrong with the import process.

To be more specific, it looks like most of the missing emails are actually in the 2000-June month:

https://mail.gnome.org/archives/easytag-list/2000-June/thread.html

even though the timestamp on those messages when they are viewed individually seems to be correct:

Mhonarc makes me angry, he used my shell lang to import the archives thus you saw everything in italian. Anyway it should be working now. Please close the ticket if everything is OK!

This made me laugh. :-) Also, it proves that I have no idea of the difference between French and Italian!

It looks much better now, thanks! There is just one nitpick; it seems that June-2000 still has the complete archive inside it, maybe it just needs to be deleted and recreated?
Comment 8 Andrea Veri 2012-11-30 13:57:00 UTC
Index re-created again and finally June-2000 shows OK. As you may understand working with mhonarc may be frustrating :-)
Comment 9 David King 2012-11-30 14:01:05 UTC
Perfect! Thank you for your mhonarc wrangling :-)
