GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 688918
Show newly installed engines
Last modified: 2021-06-09 16:10:21 UTC
If engines are installed as third-party engines, we should try and find a way to detect those and show them. Incomplete ideas include keeping track of the engines installed since a certain date, build a table of "default installed" engines so that any not in that list get listed.
There is also the possibility of monitoring the ${datadir}/ibus/component/ folder. As far as I know, all engines must add an XML description file in there.
Just list them as is, period. Neither Redmond OS nor OS X ever try to distinguish between built-in one and third-party one.

You've already insulted me on the mailing-list, wasted Mathieu's, Rui's and my time over the past couple of months. I'll ask the Bugzilla admins to ban you if you don't stop being disruptive.

What if user installed 3rd engines instead of any of ibus, is there a common agreement for them to install engines in that folder? Thanks.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
