I downloaded the latest version of Eclipse since my linux distro does not provide  the latest version, I extracted the tarball and launched the Eclipse binary; it runs and shows up in the Dash like it should but if I right click on the icon in the Dash there is no option to add it to "Favorites".

This means I have to locate the Eclipse binary every time I have to launch it.

I know there are workarounds but I think Gnome Shell should handle this edge case since it's not uncommon for users to download applications.
