To solve bug 603205, bug 603555, bug 417387, I would need a way to tell a container widget (in my case, aspectframe) "allow your children to make you expand up to this maximum size (whichever of width or height is smaller).

In pitivi's case, this would allow shrinking the video image preview, without allowing it to stretch up beyond the 1:1 pixels.

If you need a special-purpose container, you should write one for your application.
