Description محمد أحمد 2012-11-16 22:35:35 UTC
Arabic is not viewed correctly in the Terminal. The letters are reversed in order and split, They should be connected and shown from right to left.

Thank you for reporting this. Can you specify which version of Gnome you are running? Is this a fresh install, or did this occur after updating / changing system language?

In general, usability bugs aren't of critical severity (which is more appropriate when crashing occurs for example). I hope someone from usability maintainers can chime in, as this seriously limits the usefulness of Arabic translation of Gnome Terminal, and I'm not sure if "minor" is right for this case. For now, please set it to "minor", as it is the standard for this kind of bug.

This is a very well known issue.

I am running Gnome Shell 3.6.1 on Ubuntu 12.10. This issue is well known among
users of the Arabic interface of Gnome, it is not related to updating/changing
the system language. It is a general bug, I mean that Arabic is not shown
properly inside the terminal of any user of the Arabic interface.
