GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 687699
re-enable parallel builds for webkit?
Last modified: 2013-02-20 12:24:58 UTC
In the moduleset we see: <!-- bugs that prevent webkit for supporting parallel build: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79498 http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?30653 --> But both of those bugs have been fixed for a while now. WebKit takes long enough to build as is... maybe it's safe for us to re-enable it?
The make bug [1] has only been fixed in cvs [2] on Mon Sep 10 02:36:05 2012 UTC (8 weeks ago) by psmith. There hasn't been a release of make yet. The latest release of make is 3.82 on Wed Jul 28 05:39:50 2010 UTC (2 years, 3 months ago) by psmith [3] We can only remove the parallel build restriction when we know the user has a good enough make. That could be a while. Need a release of make first, then need distros to pick up the new release. Worth mentioning that the make issue only impacts make 3.82 and Debian and Ubuntu are still on 3.81 (ie: unaffected).
Hi, I enabled parallel builds again in 9166756e7fdccd9bbc34ccf61d5a987cdc5654d2 As Ryan said, even a new release of make was not done, this bug only affects make 3.82 and Debian and Ubuntu are still on 3.81 (ie: unaffected). Also Fedora has been apply the upstream patch in its F17 and F18 make packages Thanks for your bug report
