Description Christopher Martin 2012-10-28 11:47:10 UTC
Text input is productivity-damagingly slow (wait 10 seconds for typed text to show up) and backspace/delete keys do not work requiring user to wait delay, highlight typos, type, wait delay again to see if layer is named correctly.
Comment 1 Clayton Walker 2012-11-03 06:57:31 UTC
Is it really that slow? On my system the only text input that is remotely slow is the on-screen text tool editor.
Mind posting extra information like system version and specs, as well as the GIMP (dmg) version you're using?
Thanks for the bug report!
Comment 2 Christopher Martin 2012-11-03 10:20:39 UTC
System version: 10.8.2
Specs: 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067MHz RAM, over 50% free disk space (for VRAM)
GIMP version: 2.8.2 stable native build.

Appears that the issue is similar to bug #683373. May be better if it's merged.
Comment 3 Michael Natterer 2012-11-03 11:18:20 UTC
Yes indeed. Please note that we wouldn't release stuff if we experienced
the slowness ourselves. I'm afraid somebody who has that problem need
to somehow profile stuff, e.g. with Instruments.
