GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 686905
MTP access not working for Nexus 7
Last modified: 2018-07-29 22:42:41 UTC
Dear banshee maintainers, Banshee doesn’t recognize the Nexus 7. If I use mtpfs, I can access its memory. calibre (an ebook management software) recognize the Nexus 7 when connected too. I use GNU/Linux Debian, banshee was 2.4.1. I tried with 2.6.0 package in experimental and it doesn’t work too. Regards, Vincent Lhote
Vincent, I can manage Nexus7 with my distro just fine. Can you test banshee 2.6.1 please?
Created attachment 272326 [details] console output
I tested on another computer that has Ubuntu and a package of banshee 2.6.1. It didn’t work either, I joined the console output, in case in helped.
> It didn’t work either Ok, I need more details here, what do you mean with "it didn't work"? Did banshee crash? Did banshee not show the device? Did banshee show the device but not the music in it? Did banshee show the device and the music in it, but it didn't sync new music? Please be more specific. Also, if you could test Banshee 2.6.2 or Banshee 2.9.1, it would be grand.
In the Ubuntu machine: I plug in the Nexus 7 with a USB device and it is set to use MTP. The device is recognized by the system (just says Nexus 7), and its file system can be browsed in nautilus. I launch banshee. Whether the Nexus 7 was plugged before or after being launched, banshee doesn’t add the device. In some cases it also freezes (not responding to anything but kill); this might be related with browsing the device in nautilus. I also checked with my android phone, a samsung galaxy note 2, and banshee doesn’t add the device to its list either. Same issue with a Nexus 10. And I checked again, the mtp extension is enabled.
Ok thanks for the info. Is there any chance you could test with Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty? (It includes banshee 2.6.2)
