Description Matthias Clasen 2012-10-16 17:23:38 UTC
Most of the ui is read just as 'panel' or 'push button', when it should read a contact name, or email address, or description.
Comment 1 Kat 2013-04-27 13:44:43 UTC
This bug is still valid in 3.8. For example, the link contacts "check" toggle button is read out as "toggle button" and has no tooltip, the Edit button is just read out as "Edit push button" and has no tooltip, etc..

Adding some tooltips would improve the situation quite a lot as they are read out by orca and would make documenting the UI for the user help considerably easier.

I've updated some buttons.
What's still missing here ?

PD: My screen-reader isn't working properly
Comment 3 André Klapper 2014-04-03 08:51:24 UTC
Erick: I'd recommend Accerciser for testing then.

I don't see why we need tooltips for this, and I'm not a fan of using them as a workaround for accessibility bugs. Let's just add accessible names. For the check mark button, I would suggest "Select Contacts".

I want tooltips because I don't want to find out what will happen if I press a button by trying it out. I would rather know what it will do before I press it. Accessible names will not solve this problem for me (although we should obviously use them anyway).

That's a separate bug then: please file it.
Comment 7 Matthias Clasen 2015-09-25 20:58:56 UTC
The accessibility side is much improved, I think this bug can be closed.
